Още в ранната пролет младият италианец даде заявка за своите възможности, когато първо спечели етап 3 в Обиколката на Трентино, а след това никой не можа да му отнеме и крайната победа.
Този път обаче летвата е още по-високо.
Позовиво изригна днес – 8. етап в Обиколката на Италия на Кол Моллела. 7 км. преди края италианецът атакува от основната група и бързо натрупа преднина от около 30 секунди. Последвалият го Бенат Интхаусти (Movistar) успя някак да скъси разлика на финала на 23″. Трети, пет секунди по-късно, финишира позагубилият се Хоаким Родригез (Katusha), на когото се опъна Томас Де Гендт (Vacansoleil-DCM), останал четвърти.
Носителят на розовата фланелка Райдер Хеседал финишира почти наравно с групата на Родригез и запази лидерството.
Благодарение на финалния си напън Родригез измести от втората позиция вчерашния етапен победител Паоло Тиралонго (Astana). В момента състезателят на Katusha е на 9″ от лидера;
Тиралонго (Astana) е на 15″, а съотборникът му Роман Кройцигер е четвърти на 35″. Иван Басо (Liquigas-Cannondale) е по петите му на 40″. След него са Дамиано Карузо (iquigas-Cannondale) (45″) и Дарио Каталдо (Omega Pharma-Quickstep) (46″).
Франк Шлек (RadioShack-Nissan) се издигна до деветото място с 48″ пасив.

Early in the spring the young Italian demonstrated his abilities when initially won the third stage of Giro del Trentino, and later gave chance to no one to snatch the final victory from his grasp.
This time it’s The Giro.
Pozzovivo erupted today – 8th stage of Giro d’Italia at Colle Molella. With seven kilometer to go the Italian jump from the field and swiftly built up a lead of 30 seconds. Beñat Intxausti (Movistar) was quick to follow and cut the gap to 23 seconds at the finnish line. Third came, 5 seconds later, Joaùim Rodriguez (Katusha) with Thomas De Gendt (Vacansoleil-DCM) breathing down his neck.
Ryder Hesjedal, the leader jersey, managed somehow to finnish with the Rodriguez’ group and kept the pink for one more day.
The final effort from the Katusha rider payed back and he took the second place in general classification from Paolo Tiralongo (Astana). Now Rodriguez is 9 seconds behind the overall leader. Paolo Tiralongo (Astana) at 15 seconds, his teammate Roman Kreuziger is fourth at 35″ with Ivan Basso (Liquigas-Cannondale) in pursue at 40 seconds. Damiano Caruso (Liquigas-Cannondale) and Dario Cataldo (Omega Pharma-Quickstep) are the ones to follow at 45″ and 46″ seconds from the leader.
Frank Schleck (RadioShack-Nissan) move up to the ninth place with 48 seconds delay.
The hope of Italy, and one of the main contenders – Michele Scarponi (Lampre – ISD) jump across four positions and he’s now 12th in the overall standings.
