Tour de France ’12:

Tour de France ’12.

Luis-Leon Sanchez won an excellent battle, cunningly outwitting Peter Sagan.
A stage to be remembered with its weirdness and technical problems. Weirdness from the side of Mark Cavendish leading the
peloton up on the climbs.
Peter Sagan was the other surprise. He participated in a breakaway
group of 11 riders (Eduard Voranov, Steven Kruijswijk, Cyril Gautier, Sergio Paulinho, Sébastien Minard, Martin Velits, Luis-Leon Sanchez, Insausti Izaguirre, Peter Sagan, Sandy Casar, Phillipe Gilbert) and with an advance nearly of 16 minutes. Sandy Casar tried his best to escape from the group, knowing the result of an eventual battle with the Slovakian at the finish line. He was joined with Gilbert, Insausti and at the end with Peter Sagan who struggled through the horrific climb but did not gave up and managed to catch up. With 13 km to go the group was whole again. Luis-Leon Sanchez picked the perfect moment when Sagan enjoyed his jelly near his team car, and took off. A perfect timed attack resulting in 40 sec. lead and first victory for Rabobank Team in 2012 Tour de France.

At 22km banner Cadel Evans experienced a ridiculous technical problem with his rear tyre, on the top of the climb, alone, waiting for a service car. The hope arise in the face of his teammate… with a flat tyre. 3 km later, he faced another problem with the borrowed one.
Honorably, the peloton, lead from Sky, pull the breaks to wait for Cadel. They waited, but Pierre Roland did not. At the 15km. Bradley Wiggins has to change his bike as well. Then they waited some more, but the Australian, with 11K. to go, has another puncture – front tyre, this time. All BMC riders take their they part to catch the yellow jersey group, chasing in that time the escapee Pierre Roland, and none of them miss to salute Team Sky’s service car in appreciation of the noble gesture.
